Leadership In Training

The LIT Program gives teens the chance to grow personal responsibility, practice peer-to-peer leadership, enhance empathy, and improve time management skills. Teens ages 13+ work alongside Camp Bovey staff to create a camper-focused summer that is centered around our core values of Caring, Sharing, Curiosity, and Connection. All teens participate in Teen Leaders Week where they will work together on a team project, learn what it takes to be a positive role model to younger campers, practice outdoor living and recreation skills, and enjoy a full week with peers their own age. Depending on age group, teens will either return as CITs or JC Interns.

Leadership in Training registration has closed for 2019.

Ages 13-15

Teens ages 13-15 are rising camp leaders who still want a camp experience, but are also eager to share their passion for camp with younger campers. After going through Teen Leadership Week, youth in this age group return for one of our 5-day sessions as Counselors in Training (CITs). They will help younger campers ‘learn the ropes’ of camp and will partner with leadership staff to lead activities such as archery, canoeing, art, or fishing.

Capacity: 24
Cost: $225

Ages 16-18

Teens ages 16+ participate as Junior Counselor Interns. JC Interns are paired with a cabin group and help the lead counselor make sure that every camper feels noticed, wanted, cared for, and included. Additionally, each JC Intern partners with a program leader to support a specific camp programming area. For example, JC Interns interested in environmental justice may choose to partner with our Environmental Ed team; JC Interns more interested in outdoor skills may partner with our Rec team to teach camping skills. This is ideal for teens seriously interested in building their resume, pursuing careers in educational or camp settings, or really hoping to stand out on a college application. The ideal teens for this internship are those who prioritize kindness, are eager to learn, and have a passion for mentoring younger children. Have questions?
