Dedicated staff and volunteers help each visitor “shop” for their choice of fresh produce, meat, bread, and shelf-stable foods. Participants may visit once per month and receive 20 pounds of food each time. Pet food and hygiene items are also provided when available.
Participants in the Senior Food Self must be 55 years or older, live in Hennepin County, and meet income guidelines (at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines. For a family of one the upper limit is $2024 per month; family of two is $2744 a month). Written verification of income is not required.
You are requested to bring identification with you each time you visit. This might be a driver’s license, state ID, or piece of mail with your name and current address. On your first visit, you will need to fill out and sign a form providing your name, address, birth date, and the names and birth dates of other household members. Your signature provides verification that you meet income guidelines. You’ll be issued a number and when it is your turn, staff will guide you through the shopping area to choose the items that you would like to bring home.
We are hosted by the Minnesota Public Housing Authority (MPHA) in the Parker Skyview apartment building.
1801 Central Ave NE

We are always looking for volunteers able to take on a regular morning or afternoon shift to assist participants with their shopping. You can fill out a volunteer application [PDF].
