Free Tax Preparation at ESNS
From January 23 through April 15, 2014, AccountAbility Minnesota will be here at ESNS Tuesdays and Thursdays (doors open at 5:45 pm) and Saturdays (doors open at 9 am) providing free tax assistance to low to moderate-income working taxpayers, helping them to maximize their refunds.
AccountAbility Minnesota believes that an individual's access to quality tax assistance and financial refunds should not depend solely on one's ability to pay for such services. They work to move Minnesotans out of poverty by providing pathways to enhance income by providing free tax assistance to individuals and sole proprietors, partnering with financial institutions and community organizations, and providing technical assistance to other organizations.
Assistance is on a first-come, first-served only at this site (1700 2nd Street NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418), so it's a good idea to arrive at the tax clinic when the doors open to get in line. All taxes are prepared for free by volunteers who go through extensive training and are certified by the IRS. For each person listed on the return they need to bring their Social Security card or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) card or letter, a picture I.D., and income statements.
