Youth Employment Program

The Youth Employment program at East Side Neighborhood Services works with Minneapolis youth ages 14-21 to develop and achieve goals for academic success and career development. Participants engage in group workshops, trainings, and one-on-one sessions with a  job counselor.

Every year, more than 30 young adults participate in the Youth Employment program, which is a partnership with the City of Minneapolis funded through the Minneapolis Youth Works Program.

Program Goals

Academic success

We support youth to improve their attendance and performance in school, set academic goals, and prepare for post-secondary education and training.

Job Skills Development

We help youth learn important skills — such as employer communication, time management, resume writing and interviewing, and networking and job searching — that help them find and keep jobs.

Opportunity Linkage

We make connections between trainings, internships, and volunteer work, which help youth gain on-the-job experience that will help them get a job.

Employment

Youth apply the skills and experience they gain to apply for jobs and get hired! Financial literacy skills like bank account management and expense budgeting carry with them after their experience.

For more information, please contact Perris Johnson at PJohnson@esns.org. We are always looking for volunteers to mentor participants, assist in job searching, and help with occupational training.
